The movie that we saw in class was very motivating because it broke down the steps in how to achieve ones vision. The film identified between vision and action and how they play a role together. My parents never encouraged me to think freely and inspire me to achieve anything because to them, finishing college with a perfect GPA was enough. Luckily, learning from my peers and teachers helped me to realize the path I should take and create visions for myself. There are a few goals that I have that I would really like to achieve in my lifetime and they are…
1. To get a good job in the field of Finance and possibly even moving my way up in a higher position in other related fields that will permit me greater success.
2. To be able to support my mother any possible way so that she lives an easy life to the best of my ability.
3. To buy a house and move out of New York City.
To make my vision possible, I would need to focus on situating my current position to that will get me where I need to be. I plan to take on more internship in the field on finance and get comfortable with what my job would be like. Creating more connections will help me to get a successful career in finance and make my mom proud. When I am financially stable then I will able to support my mother as I move up higher in a managerial position of a company. I expect to move out of New York eventually so that I don’t have to deal with the cold weather in New York and of course afford the house that is reasonable.

I suggest you get that awesome job so you can support your mother and buy that house you're dreaming about. You can do it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI totally support you on being able to support your mother! I hope to one day do that for my parents too because they supported me all my life! Good Luck!
ReplyDeletei totally understand where your coming from. I was raised in a similar manner that you were and was never really encouraged to open up my mind and think creatively! our goals are kind of similar because we both want to find a good job in the field of finance/accounting and then eventually being capable enough to support our families. and yes, networking is definitely vital to the success of one's career.
ReplyDeletehey i totally agree with you. i was raised in a similar manner as you and i can tell you that i wasnt really encouraged to open up my mind and think creatively. all my parents care about is if i get those As lol. but yeh our goals are similar. we both want to get well respected jobs in finance/accounting and eventually be capable of supporting our families. i think thats the most important thing a child can do for their parents. and networking is definitely vital to getting a good job in the field you desire.
ReplyDeletebut it is also true that the opportunities you have available in NYC will not be offered anywhere else. They dont call NYC the best city in the world for nothing! lol so you might want to consider that before moving somewhere else which is boring!!! :)
Moving out of New York isn't such a bad idea. Try to travel to places that you think you might want to live and see which one is the ideal location you want to live in. I heard that people who grew up in New York and moved out to the south tend to get bored in a couple of weeks, but I'm sure it can't be that bad! It's definitely a bit more peaceful down there.
ReplyDeleteI also have the same vision of supporting my mother with the best of my ability. My mother is one of the most important people that helped me stay strong. I will work hard like you to turn that vision into reality!
ReplyDeleteWell you are on a right track! Right place and just in time. By your graduation economy will be on better position and you easily will find good a job! It's very nice of you that you want to take care of your mom. Im sure she is already proud of you:)
ReplyDeleteI also think it's great that you want to support your mother. I believe it is the most powerful vision out of those three and will encourage you to take action so you can achieve the other two.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love and agree with your two last goals. Based on what you said, I am assuming your specify your mother because she is a single mother? Excuse me if my assumption is wrong, but my parents are divorced and I always wanted to provide my mother more then she has now. Moving out of NYC is something I would have done a long time ago if it wasn't finance central. I spent a few months in Miami and the climate put a smile on my face every day, definately some of the best months of my life!
ReplyDeleteI definately love and agree with your two last goals. Based on what you wrote, I'm assuming your mother is a single mother, excuse me if I am wrong. My mother is a single mother and there isnt a day that goes by where I wish I can give her much more then she has today. If NYC was not finance central, I would have left a long time ago. I spent a few months in Miami and it was amazing. The climate puts a smile on your face no matter what the situation.
ReplyDeleteyour goals are very well made i think. i definately agree with you and i plan to move outside of nyc as well. it is important to experience a different culture and be in a different environment.
